Thanksgiving is over...time to prepare for Christmas

As mentioned earlier, thanks to all who have made this past year a successful one. Without your support, it would not have been possible.

Our first annual Black Friday Sale was a success, and it's something we make try to improve upon for next year.

For those who missed our special deals, we still have some left, and we will honor those prices as long as we have inventory.

Please keep in mind, we do not have a store or keep regular business hours. Ninety-nine percent of our business is made to order, and usually requires about a week of preparation. Perhaps, someday, with your continued support, we will have a retail outlet.

Please try to get your holiday orders in ASAP. We have a fund-raiser going right now for Pack 61 Cub Scout Troop in Adamstown. As soon as that is finished, we will be working on homiday orders, in ernest.

Thanks for your business, and thanks for your patronage.

Best wishes this holiday season,

Tom & Donna

November Keeps Rolling Along...

It's like the quiet before the storm. The last two weeks have been quiet, but we have a feeling it won't be that way for long.

Most of our Thanksgiving orders are filled, and we will be gearing up for the Christmas Holiday Season.

Tuesday we will participate in the Thanksgiving Market at Greensgrow Farm, Cumberland & Gaul Sts., Phila. The market runs from 2 - 6 pm, and we will be offering a variety of pierogi flavors including Sweet Potato, Pumpkin, Apricot, Buffalo Chicken, Cheese Steak, & Hoagie. Will we also have a few other flavors, as well as Halushki, Cole Slaw and Ravioli's. All will be homemade.

My friend, Joe Zangrilli, is sending along his homemade Italian pizzelles, and we will have some of Donna's homemade "Jingle Bell Pot Pouri."

If you're from the Mohnton-Ephrata area, my grandson, Dylan's Cub Scout Troop, from Adamstown, is selling our pierogies as a fund-raiser. Deadline for orders is Nov. 30. The delivery date is set for Dec. 10. If you know anyone in the troop, please get a hold of them. It is a worthy cause.

Thanks to all the listeners from WRAW's Polka Party Radio Show. We sponsored a few spots on the program and plan to be back next week.

Also, check out our ad in the Reading Eagle on Black Friday. We're looking to get those Holiday Orders in.

Don't forget, we plan on cutting off holiday orders on December 10. It's never too early to place your order.

Since this week is Thanksgiving week, please go back and read our previous blog entry on the subject. Everyone has something to be thankful for. We know we do!

Take care, and have a great holiday!

It's November.... time to give thanks!

This month we officially celebrate our first year in business. Of course, we have been making pierogies, etc. much longer than that, but as The Polish Farmers, we have one year under our belt. A great reason to be thankful.

Thanks to our many customers, friends and family members. Due to their support, we have made it this far. We have met many new friends along the way, and the list keeps growing. All of this support is another reason to be thankful.

It has only been two weeks, but things seem to be going well at Greensgrow Farms, in Philadelphia. Our pierogies appear to be growing in popularity, and we are thankful for that.

Recently, we participated in the yard sale/chicken bbq that was held at Black Creek Greenhouse, in Narvon, Lancaster County. Our products were a hit there, too! It was great local exposure. Thanks to all the new friends we met there.

Speaking of local exposure, our first commercial spot aired on Walt the K's Polka Party on WRAW-AM 1340. Walt Kazmierczak has been running the ever-popular Polka Party for the last few years, and has been associated with the show for about two decades.

If you haven't listened to the program, it airs every Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm at 1340 on your AM dial.

Walt gave us a great plug on Sunday, and we should have a spot or two on the show this week. Thanks Walt for promoting our pierogies to all those Polish food lovers who listen to your program!

You really have to try our new Golumpki Soup. We cooked up a pot of it recently, on the advice of a friend of ours, Jim Whitehead, and found this soup is practically as addicting as our pierogies. Thanks Jim!

As you can see, we have a lot to be thankful for, and we are sure you do too. Things may seem bleak. The economy may be down. You may be feeling under the weather or a little depressed, but there is always a reason to be thankful.

It's like the lines from that old Bing Crosby tune from the film "White Christmas":

When I'm worried and I can't sleep
I count my blessings instead of sheep
And I fall asleep counting my blessings
When my bankroll is getting small
I think of when I had none at all
And I fall asleep counting my blessings

Let's all find a reason to be thankful here in November. (PS- take our poll on the subject right here in our blog.

Pierogi Blog gets new exposure

With a new link on our Polish Farmer website, we are hoping our blog gets some new exposure.

Over time, this will be the place to see what's new with our business, what's happening with our family and friends, and get a few new recipes or other interesting tidbits.

As previously mentioned, we are gearing up for the holidays. We thought our pumpkin pierogies would be a big hit for Halloween, but there's still hope they'll be popular for Thanksgiving!

In addition, we have sweet potato pierogies, and a dozen fruit flavors that go well for dessert. For those who want a taste of Thanksgiving Dinner without the fuss, try our Thanksgiving Turkey Pierogies. Do you like roasted turkey? Stuffing? Cranberry Sauce? It's all in there! All your favorite flavors without the work!

With Thanksgiving on the horizon, can Christmas be far behind? We are now taking orders for all our great Polish Food Products plus Babka, Nut, Poppy Seed and Apricot Rolls, and Cwilka (a red beet-horseradish relish) that's great on ham or kielbasa.

We are beginning to add a few more products to our menu, as well. For the next few weeks we are testing the market with a line-up of ravioli's. Currently, we are offering four flavors: cheese, cheese steak, pepperoni pizza and spinach and cheese. They are available plain and frozen by the dozen or in a microwavable container with a marinara sauce. This dinner package is also frozen with 12 per container.

In addition to Halushki, Golumpki & Bigos, we are also introducing a line of fresh homemade soups. Most of these will be available in January and February when the weather is definitely soup weather! Currently, we are offering Golumpki Soup in quart containers. Future offerings to be expected are: chicken noodle, yellow pea & barley, mushroom, potato, and German Hamburger Stew. Don't be surprised to see chili available, also!

This is also the first week that our pierogies will be offered at Greensgrow Farms Nursery and Farm Market, Cumberland & Gaul Sts. Philadelphia, PA. Check us out.

Thanks for checking us out. Don't forget to come back!

The latest from down on the farm...

We are just two months into the new year, and already things are going like a steam roller.

A story about our Polish Farmers pierogi business ran in The Reading Eagle a few weeks ago, and things have not stopped since. The phone has been ringing and the orders keep piling up. We are just barely able to keep up with it.

In addition, our friends at The Doorstep Dairy had an equally nice story in The Eagle, and we were fortunate enough to be mentioned in their story as one of their suppliers of pierogies and Polish foods. It has been reported that in addition to The Reading Eagle, that story, which was obviously put on the news wire, ran in The Pottstown Mercury, The Lancaster Farming News, The West Chester Daily Local News, and the Chamberburg, PA newspaper. That has given us a boost, as well.

We also added a new member to our family since then, a five month old, 56-pound yellow lab named, "Stanley." He a handful, but adorable none-the-less.

Two of our new pierogi flavors are getting great reviews from our customers. They are chocolate peanut butter, and pepperoni pizza. Potato & Cheese, Cheese Steak and Buffalo Chicken, however, remain in the top three, withe the famous Hoagie Pierogi right behind them!

With all our new customers, we have been meeting a lot a great people in the area, and all have been understanding in regards to the demands. Thanks to all for your patience.
Drop us a line, send us an email for pick up the the phone, We'd love to hear from you!
